New Choice: Prisoner Re-Entry Intiative

The Prisoner Re-Entry Initiative(PRI) was introduced in 2004 as part of  President Bush's State of the Union Address. This grant was awarded to MAAP, Inc. in November 2005 by the U.S. Department of Labor Office Of Community and Faith Based Initiatives. The mission of this project is to reduce the recidivism amongst the criminal justice population through vocational training, education, and employment. The New Choice Program was established with this grant.


The Program Includes:

  • Work Readiness Training
  • Resume Building
  • Employment Placement Assistance
  • Drivers License and CA ID Support
  • Funding for Vocational Training
  • On-The-Job Training
  • Funding for Interview and Work Clothing
  • Mentoring
  • Supportive Services-Referrals to low cost clean and sober housing, child support assistance, mental health counseling and substance abuse treatment, and transportation assistance.

Eligible Applicants must meet the following criteria:

         18 years or older

         Released from incarceration within the last 6 months

         No Violent (CA PC 667.5) Or Sex Crime Convictions

         Able, willing and committed to his/her own success!
